Join local mixed media and soft sculpture artist Jori Jori for a brief exploration into Junk Art. In this three-hour class, you'll learn about the concept of mask-making and hear from Jori about her own process, including the role of textural elements and the use of recycled materials in her work. Jori will then lead you through the process of making your own junk art mask from scratch.
This workshop focuses on being playful, saying "yes and" to what we create, and working with what we already have. Learn to turn off your inner critic and create without judgement while developing your mask's unique character. Each student will walk away with a mask of their own creation.
Jori will provide cardboard, paper, a couple of hot glue guns, and a goodie box of whimsical materials to play with. Bring your own materials to supplement the provided supplies. Here’s what we’ll be working with:
Cardboard and paper
Scissors
Staples
Tape
Glue
Hot glue
Anything else you want to bring to adorn your mask, including fabric, felt, paper, beads, thread, yarn, fake flowers, real flowers, feathers, paint, rope, old jewelry, glass, plastic scraps, old doll parts, or ????
