Ditch digital and discover the depth and beauty of 35mm photography in this hands-on two-session class for beginning photographers (or seasoned digital photographers new to shooting film). In the first class you’ll learn about the history, mechanics, and basic elements of photography and then hit the streets of Nevada City for a photowalk during Golden Hour. Your film will be sent to a lab for development and we’ll get together again two weeks later to review and critique your images.
Participants will learn the basics of photography (including the relationship between film sensitivity, aperture size, and shutter speed); how to choose, handle, and load film; tips for creating well-composed images; and how to review and edit negatives for printing.
You bring: A 35mm SLR camera (manual or automatic). No point-and-shoot cameras, please.
We provide: Two rolls of 35mm black and white film and the development of photo negatives.
Dress in layers and prepare to be outside as the sun sets!
ATTENTION: Our class scheduling software does not allow us to have two different lengths of time each day for a two-day class. Please note that the second session (Nov 1) is only two hours, from 4-6pm, and the total hours for both classes is 5 (not 6). Thanks!
