Want to be a Wonder Docent?

Pitch us your idea!

We’re looking for creative people to lead experiences and workshops that spark curiosity and strengthen creativity.

As Wonder Docents, our goal is to provide opportunities for people to get away from their devices and connect with the world around them. Do you have a unique skill or perspective to share? We want to hear from you!

What We Offer

  • Space. Our storefront at 230 Broad Street includes approximately 300 square feet of workshop space, including a utility sink, work tables, access to outlets, and seating. Large cutting mat (36” x 48”) can be provided for after-hours classes.

  • Discounted Materials. We encourage instructors to use materials we carry here in the shop and can provide these at discounted prices.

  • Promotion. We will promote our experiences in the shop, on our website and social media channels, in our newsletter, and on local events calendars.

  • Money. We pay our Docents for their time, skills, and experience.

Guiding Principles for Experiences

  • Age Range. Our classes are for all ages of adults and young adults but at this time we are not providing classes for children.

  • Accessibility. We want our classes to be accessible for people with all types of skills and abilities. Please be ready to meet people where they are and make accommodations if requested. (Need more info? Reach out.)

  • Process Over Outcome. The creative process can be so frustrating! We want people to feel empowered and successful in our classes. As Docents, our role is to help people leave judgement behind and be fully present in the process of making something with their own hands.

  • Celebration of Place. We live in an amazing place and we want our experiences to reflect that. Think about how you can incorporate the natural and/or built environment into your experience.

  • Fun! That’s why we’re here, right?
